Essen Haus Oktoberfest 2014

We sang at the Oktoberfest celebration at the Essen Haus on Saturday September 13th. We sang two sets, though the second one was a little short because it was time for Dorf Kapelle to start their set.

Here are some pictures – as always, click on the small image to see the larger version of the photo.

First Rehearsal Reminder

Just a quick reminder that the first rehearsal of the 2014-15 season will be on Wednesday evening September 3 at 8:00 pm at Turner Hall. And there will be the monthly business meeting after the rehearsal.

Thanks to Paul H for the “Luther Socks” – I imagine they’ll look very nice with the new uniforms…

Here I stand, I can do no other

Cemetery Sing 2014

On Sunday August 3, we had our annual Cemetery Sing. We began at Highland Memorial on Cottage Grove Road. After a few songs and some words of remembrance for Pat Burke we drove to Roselawn in Monona. We sang a few songs and shared some memories of Ernst Roth, Roger Attoe and the other friends who are buried here.

Then it was off to visit the Spartan Bowl in McFarland for some refreshments.

First Reheasal Update

The first rehearsal for 2014 has been moved from Thursday September 4th to Wednesday September 3rd! Rehearsal will be at the usual time at Turner Hall but for this week it will be on Wednesday, not Thursday.

Thursday conflicts with the Packer season opener: they’re playing at Seattle and the kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. Central.

Not sure yet what the plan will be for the October 2nd rehearsal which will conflict with the Packers – Vikings game at Lambeau…

WSB Sangerfest 2014

We’ve received two more photos of the Capitol concert from Geoff Kroening:

To: Wisconsin Sängerbezirk Presidents, Secretaries and others

Attached are two pictures of the WSB Chöre performing in the State Capitol Rotunda.  Margot Paap’s son-in-law took these photos and Margot gave me professionally printed images which I scanned for electronic posting on the Milwaukee Liederkranz facebook page.  The scanned images from the vivid color prints turned out well and I thought I would share them via email to all the WSB clubs.  Please forward and share them with your singers.

The photos are below – click on the image for a larger version of the photo. I’ve also shared the Milwaukee Liederkranz Facebook photo gallery on our own Facebook page.

Kommers 2014 Part 3

We concluded Kommers / Saengerfest 2014 by performing a short concert in the Capitol Rotunda. Afterward, we headed over to the Essen Haus to enjoy some beer, brats and music. Thankfully this all occurred before the rain returned.

Kommers 2014 part 2

After the morning’s competition and dinner, there was a short rehearsal for the evening concert (and the Sunday concert at the Capitol) and then some free time; the amount of free time depending on whether you had signed up to make sandwiches or not.

In the evening the combined choirs sang a few song, ate some sandwiches and had a dance.

Kommers 2014 part 1

The Kommers competition for 2014 was held on Saturday June 21 at Madison Turner Hall. The competition began at 11:00; seven choirs performed – the Schwaben Maennerchor and Milwaukee Liedertafel performed together.

After the performances, we had a catered dinner.

Spring Concert 2014 recordings

The recordings from the MMC 2014 Spring Concert are now available online as MP3 files. Click here and you should see a folder on our Google Drive with all of the MP3 files – one for each song. You can play them over the web, or download them to your computer.

Thanks to Eric for making these available!
