Packer Party 2015-01-18

Madison Turners hosted another Packer Party on Sunday January 18. The Maennerchor was well-represented as the Packers took on the Seahawks for the NFC championship. The food was great and there were shots each time the Packers scored. Everything seemed to be going pretty well until the last 5 minutes of the game, when the Packers managed to snatch defeat out of the mouth of victory.

Rehearsal & Meeting – January 8th

Just wanted to share some pictures from our first rehearsal and meeting of 2015!

Folklore Village Christmas Concert 2014

On Friday evening December 19, 2014 we traveled to Folklore Village for a Christmas concert. We performed in the historic Plum Grove Church. After the concert we went to Farwell Hall for refreshments and the lighting of the Christmas tree. We sang some Christmas carols and then headed back to Madison, with a quick stop at the Grumpy Troll brew pub in Mt. Horeb.

Christmas Concert & Dinner 2014

We had our annual Christmas Concert & Dinner at Turner Hall on Sunday December 14, 2014. We had a good turnout for the concert.  Afterward Sankt Nikolaus paid us a visit and then we had a great dinner, featuring ham baked in sourdough bread from Clasen’s Bakery.

Thanks to everyone who helped to make the evening a success: the set up crew, the clean up crew, the folks at Turner Hall and Edith’s Catering, and of course Sankt Nikolaus.

Oak Park Place Concert 2014-11-06

On Thursday November 6 we performed at the Oak Park Place retirement community on the far east side of Madison. It’s really a very nice building complex. After some difficulties with the folding music stand, we sang in the Grandview Hall and had a pretty good crowd. After our second set, we headed over to the Great Dane Pub for some refreshments.

Capitol Lakes Concert 2014-10-30

On Thursday October 30th we performed at the Capitol Lakes Retirement Community in Madison. They have a very nice facility and the room that we sang in had great acoustics. After the concert we adjourned to the Essen Haus for refreshments.

Wauktoberfest 2014

We performed at Wauktoberfest on Sunday September 14. We did the usual performance: sing the first set, pause for the dachshund races, and then sing the second set. It was a beautiful afternoon to sing and watch dachshunds run, and the Packers eventually managed to win after a dismal first half.

I did take some video of the dachshund race finals: click on the link for 7 Seconds of Glory. Congratulations to Bentley the 2014 champion.
