The choir has not been able to rehearse or otherwise be together since March 12th, so instead of doing our weekly Zoom call, we decided a socially distanced tailgate party would be a nice change of pace.
We have cancelled our 168th Annual Spring Concert which was scheduled for May 31st.
With the continuing spread of the coronavirus, we are still weeks away from resuming rehearsals even in the best case scenario. So for the safety of the choir members, family and friends, we have decided to cancel the concert.
At this point there is no scheduled date for the next rehearsal.
We had a short meeting after our rehearsal on March 12th to discuss future rehearsals in light of the current public health emergency. Given the continuing spread of the coronavirus and the demographics of the choir, we decided to suspend rehearsals until April 9th.
Our Spring Concert is still scheduled for May 31st at Madison’s Turner Hall, but we will re-evaluate this in April.
This fall, Wisconsin Public Television re-ran a segment on the Madison Männerchor on Wisconsin Life that originally aired in May 2018. The video is 5 or 6 minutes long. Kommers 2019 was held on Sunday April 7th at Hart Park in Wauwatosa. MGV Harmonia Kenosha won the competition, with the Madison Maennerchor in second place and Milwaukee Liederkranz, the 2018 winner, in third. Milwaukee Liedertafel was the host choir and the set up and food were great.

Our rehearsal on Thursday February 7, 2019 has been canceled due to weather and road conditions. With the rain, sleet and snow that we’ve had over the last two days, plus the forecast of much colder temperatures tonight, it will be dangerous to be out on the roads. So tonight’s rehearsal (and business meeting) has been canceled.
Our rehearsal on Thursday January 31, 2019 has been canceled due to weather conditions. With the forecast high temperature remaining below zero and with the chance of an inch or so of snow beginning in the evening, it’s probably best if we all stay off the roads.
The Madison Marathon and Half Marathon was held on Sunday November 11, 2018, and here’s a photo of Tim (#5517) and Joe (#5583) in Tenney Park just past the Mile 11 marker. More importantly, this is just a little over 2 miles from the finish line and the beer tent. It was a pretty cold morning, but at this point the sun had come out and the temperature had nearly gotten up to the freezing point.
