MMC Concert at Oakwood Village West 10-27-2011

Our performance was at 7 p.m. in the main floor auditorium. Later, we all moved to the dining room. Our concert sponsor and retired MMC singer, Dick Layman, arranged for sandwiches and Wahrsteiner beer after the concert in the dining room above the auditorium. Singing erupted soon after the beer and drinks were passed around!

Both the auditorium and dining room were filled to capacity with residents and Maennerchor singers (we’re in the white shirts, of course). A great time was had by all.

Thank you, Dick, for bringing such joy your community!

We had a lot of people at this celebration!

MMC Picnic 2011

We held our picnic on Sunday, June 12, about 1:00 p.m., following our traditional cemetery sing. About 40 singers, wives, children and friends were there. The location was Monona’s Ahuska Park, 400 E Broadway.

The name “Ahuska” is the Ho-Chunk Indian word for “whitewing,” which was the name of the last Ho-Chunk family to live on the park’s land.

Brat Fest 2011 Madison

MMC members at the rainy Madison Bratfest 2011

The World’s Largest Brat Fest! on Memorial Weekend ran from May 27 through May 30, 2011. Many celeBRATed with us at  the Alliant Energy Center Willow Island grounds (Baker Tilly Tent)! We sang from about 4:40 to 5:30 p.m. Very lucky for us, the rain stopped shortly before we showed up.

The songs we planned to sing included 1 4 6 9 19 20 28 29 39 61 73 86 104 169 193 194.

A full-size Parking Map was prepared by the Brat Fest promoters. It will probably be different for 2012’s Brat Fest.

Kommers 2011 Victory Dinner

MMC continued its tradition of celebrating a Kommers victory with a dinner for all of the singers and spouses. This year’s dinner was at Kavanaugh’s Esquire Club, Madison. One of our favorite celebration sites, Kavanaugh’s Esquire Club is a long-time advertiser in our Madison Männerchor Spring Concert book.

Cost for the dinner for non-singers: $25, drinks not included.

Cocktails start at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7:00 p.m. Casual attire.

MMC 2010 Picnic

We enjoyed our annual picnic today at the West shelter at Lakeview Park, Middleton. Close to the northwest portion of Lake Mendota, this area has a pond, a water fountain play area designed for children, and fine picnic facilities. About 60 were there to enjoy the festivities, and yes, the rain. The rain did not dampen our spirits, as MMC members can break out in song in any weather and occasion. Kudos go to Klaus Bodenstein for his excellent grill technique, and thanks go to all who brought side dishes and desserts. A good time was had by all.
