Middleton Good Neighbor Fest 2015

After the race we made the usual stop at the beer tent to replenish fluids.

After the race we made the usual stop at the beer tent to replenish fluids.

It’s been a couple of years since the last time we sang at the Middleton Good Neighbor Fest, but a couple of us take part in the 5 K race almost every year. This year we were once again just a single Tenor II short of having a quartet.

The race was on Saturday morning August 29th; the rain had stopped by race time, though it did sprinkle a little and there was enough mist that I was glad I remembered to wear my lucky rain hat. After the race, there was the traditional stop at the beer tent to “replenish fluids.” And we all got free peaches. I have no idea why they were giving away peaches, but I was happy to take one.

Saengerfest 2015

The WSB Saengerfest was held at the Schwabenhof in Menomonee Falls on Sunday June 21st. It was a great day to be outside and celebrate our unexpected victory at Kommers.

Here are some photos. As always, click on the thumbnail image to see the larger picture.

Kommers 2015

The annual Wisconsin Saengerbezirk Kommers and Saengerfest was held in Milwaukee on June 20th and 21st. The host choir was the Milwaukee DANK Chor.

These are my pictures from Kommers on Saturday June 20, 2015. We sang in the Muellner Building in Hart Park in Wauwatosa. As always, click on the thumbnail image to see the larger photo.

Oh, in case you were wondering, we actually came in first place. So the traveling trophy will be back in our trophy case for the next year.

We will perform a Christmas Concert at Folklore Village on Friday December 19, 2014 at 7:00 p.m in the historic Plum Grove Church. After the concert, the Christmas tree in nearby Farwell Hall will be lit with candles and we’ll sing some Christmas carols.

Tickets for the concert are $7 adults, $5 seniors & teens and $4 for kids. Reservations are recommended; please call 924-4000. For further information see the Calendar page at the Folklore Village web site.

Folklore Village is located at 3210 County Road BB in Dodgeville Wisconsin. This is about a half mile south of the intersection of County Road BB and Highway 18/151 just west of Ridgeway. Here is a map. Farwell Hall will be on your right and the Plum Grove Church will be on your left about a block south of Farwell Hall.

WSB Sangerfest 2014

We’ve received two more photos of the Capitol concert from Geoff Kroening:

To: Wisconsin Sängerbezirk Presidents, Secretaries and others

Attached are two pictures of the WSB Chöre performing in the State Capitol Rotunda.  Margot Paap’s son-in-law took these photos and Margot gave me professionally printed images which I scanned for electronic posting on the Milwaukee Liederkranz facebook page.  The scanned images from the vivid color prints turned out well and I thought I would share them via email to all the WSB clubs.  Please forward and share them with your singers.

The photos are below – click on the image for a larger version of the photo. I’ve also shared the Milwaukee Liederkranz Facebook photo gallery on our own Facebook page.

Kommers 2014 Part 3

We concluded Kommers / Saengerfest 2014 by performing a short concert in the Capitol Rotunda. Afterward, we headed over to the Essen Haus to enjoy some beer, brats and music. Thankfully this all occurred before the rain returned.

Here are some pictures – as always, click on the image to see a larger version of the photo.

Kommers 2014 part 2

After the morning’s competition and dinner, there was a short rehearsal for the evening concert (and the Sunday concert at the Capitol) and then some free time; the amount of free time depending on whether you had signed up to make sandwiches or not.

In the evening the combined choirs sang a few song, ate some sandwiches and had a dance.
