The Madison Männerchor
Founded in 1852, the Madison Männerchor is the second oldest German singing organization in the United States, and the oldest in Wisconsin. We are affiliated with the Madison Turners.
Our goal is the perpetuation of choral music, both German and American, German Culture, and Gemütlichkeit. We share these goals with others in our community through activities such as singing at nursing homes, folk festivals, church gatherings, funerals and ceremonies where our fun-loving, yet dedicated, singing enhances the ceremony.
Therefore, our membership consists of not only people of German ancestry, but of other ancestries. We continuously seek new members, both as Active Singers and as non-singing Associate Members. Associate members, particularly, are very important to us, as they provide needed support via their dues, and more importantly, by attending our concerts and events.
