We were disappointed that we had to cancel this year’s Christmas concert due to the weather. So at our rehearsal last week we recorded three of the songs we would have sung at the concert as our gift to you. Frohe Weihnachten!
Danny Proud, one of our Tenors, assembled original songs about GI’s, humor, love and yearning from the US Army barracks of the 421st Medical Company (Air Ambulance) at Nellingen Kaserne, during the Vietnam War.
All of the proceeds from the sale of the CDs will go to Guitars4Vets, a non-profit organization providing music therapy for disabled veterans.

Madison Männerchor was invited to participate in the Holy Hill Centennial celebration! On July 15th, 2006, MMC sang several songs, including Beethoven’s “Die Himmel rühmen,” Mozart’s “Bundeslied,” and Franz Schubert’s “Heilig,” the Sanctus from the G major mass. We were able to see, once again, how magnificent the basilica is!
Built at the highest point in that part of Wisconsin, the basilica offers a truly commanding view of the area. And the church acoustics! Wow. This building is truly a suitable praise to the Almighty.
The compact disc we were working on for a few months is finally ready. It is titled HEIMAT (Homeland).
You can sample the tracks via this link.
“Steal Away” (“Steal Away To Jesus”) is an American Negro spiritual. The song is well-known by variations of the chorus:
Steal away, steal away, steal away to Jesus!
Steal away, steal away home, I hain’t got long to stay here.
